Richard Mount enlisted as a Pvt. in the North Carolina 6th Regt., May 31, 1776 during the American Revolution where he served under Captains: Archibald Lytle, White, McRae and Tilghman Dixon. The Regt. was commanded by Colonels: Lamb and Clark. he served at the battles of Brandywine, Germantown and Monmouth. He was omitted from the rolls after 30 months of service, in Mar of 1779. In 1798, Richard Mount conveyed his Revolutionary War Land Warrant to his nephew, Richard Mount, Jr. , son of Matthias Mount. Richard Mount, Jr. exchanged this warrant for 200 acres of land in Wilson County, Tennessee. In a court hearing in 1818 at New York City for Revolutionary Pension Application, he stated that he was 'upward of 60 years old' and that his wife, Rachel was 74. he referred to his granddaughter, Rachel Foster, age about 17, whose mother had died. In 1850, at an enquiry made by his sons, John Mount of Bedford in Cuyahoga County, Ohio and William Mount of Crawford County, Ohio, it was stated that Rachel, their mother, died about Jul 21, 1829.

Died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Wilson Hunt. Everet Mount served as a Pvt. during the American Revolution in Captain Silas Howell's Company, 1st. Regiment of New Jersey Troops, Continental Line. He enlisted Nov 4, 1775 and was mustered in at Perth Amboy Barracks, Jan 12, 1776 by Gunning Bedford, Deputy Muster-Master General. His name is first borne on a company pay roll covering the period from October 20, 1775 to January 12, 1776 which shows that he enlisted November 4, 1775 and return of "Stoppages made from sundry non commissioned officers and private of Captain Silas Howell's Co., 1st. Battalion Jersey Troops" which return date is August 5, 1794. It shows that he received four dollars from January 1, 1775 to January 31, 1776; two dollars from February 1 to March 1, 1776 and again two dollars and sixty seven cents from

March 1 to April 1, 1776. From the naming pattern of the early days, his father's name may have been Joseph. It was the custom that the eldest son was named for his father's father. In addition, there was a Joseph Mount on the muster list of Cranbury, New Jersey listed along with the sons of Matthias Mount. This Joseph Mount was probably the son of Humphrey Mount, brother of Matthias Mount. Many of the descendents of Humphrey Mount not only followed the sea, but have the name: Joseph. It is to be proven that this Joseph Mount listed is the father of Everet Mount, ancestor of the Tompkins County New York Mount family.

From a letter written by William Everett Mount of Groton, New York to his don, William Dye Mount in 1905: "The first person that I ever had any knowledge among my ancestors was a seafaring man by the name of Mount, whose given name, if I ever heard it, I have forgotten. He lived in a stone house on the banks of the Raritan River in New Jersey, in the vicinity of New Brunswick, and whose house was still standing when my father came to Tompkins county in 1827. His vessel was wrecked off the mouth of the Raritan and he was drowned. When his body was found, his coat had been robbed of its silver buttons. Of his children, I have no knowledge save one and that was my great grandfather, Evert Mount, whose given name I bear as my given name. Evert Mount was born in 1753 and died at West Dryden, N.Y. in 1841, being 88 years old. I remember him well. he married Effie Dye and they had only one child, Joseph Mount, my grandfather. He married Susan Quinby and they had five children, of whom my father was the third".

From a personal letter by Mrs. Elizabeth Duncan of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to her brother, Philip D. Banghart Jan 23, 1906 and sent to William E. Mount on Feb 2, 1906. Mrs. Duncan states: "He had brothers and sisters, for I have heard mother tell how her grandmother Mount used to tell her that shortly after she was married, they went to visit his people, that they were very aristocratic and lived in a very large house and kept a number of servants and did not allow the servants to eat in the family dining room."
